PRP(Platelet Rich Plasma)
Platelet Rich Plasma is produced from an individual’s own blood. After a blood sample is obtained from a patient, the blood is put into a centrifuge, which is a tool that separates the PRP from the blood. The blood is spun for approximately 15 minutes.
PRP contains highly concentrated amounts of natural growth factors and other cytokines that promote the regeneration process of soft tissues. The PRP is applied directly to the channels that were created from the micro-needling to further stimulate the natural healing process and creation of collagen.
How Microneedling with PRP Works?
This therapy is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment with quick recovery time, and is designed to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production.
The treatment actually involves the use of two procedures, micro-needling and PRP (platelet rich plasma) done consecutively.
Why is it sometimes called a vampire facial?
Because we use your own blood to derive the PRP (platelet rich plasma) that is used to stimulate the healing process in the skin.
How long before I see results?
You will continue to see improvements in your skin as your body’s natural repair process creates more collagen. Most patients see noticeable results after 4-8 weeks.
How often can I have this done?
You need to wait 4 weeks between each session. We recommend a treatment course of 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart.
What works best for you?
As a treatment for fine lines and wrinkles, both micro-needling and PRP work well. However, their true power is unleashed when used together, as benefits are amplified and healing time is reduced.
Visible improvements typically appear about 2-4 weeks from the time of treatment. However, optimal results are noticeable after 6 months with additional follow up treatments. Therefore, a series of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is ideal for most patient. Although, some conditions such as; deep wrinkles, stretch marks, and extreme acne scaring could take up to 6-8 treatments for best results.
What are the advantages of PRP?
When used alongside the Micropen and eMatrix Laser treatment, PRP can afford you an even more superior difference in skin appearance than when used alone:
-Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
-Very noticeable tightened and evenly toned skin
-Restoration of collagen and volume loss when injected for volume replenishment
-Diminished Crow’s feet and dark under eye circles when injected in this area
-Reduced appearance of acne and other scarring
-Smoother skin due to reduced stretch marks
While it creates a longer-lasting effect in the skin, Cosmetic PRP takes time to work and the results for volume restoration and deep folds are subtle. For our patients looking for an immediate effect, we may combine Cosmetic PRP with FDA approved hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm and Belotero Balance for quick volume correction and reduction of deep wrinkles and folds. Cosmetic dermal fillers provide a matrix for building new collagen and can be safely used to accelerate and sustain the effects of Cosmetic PRP.
Please consult your physician about the whether the treatment would be beneficial to your well-being. Specifically, individuals with platelet dysfunction syndromes, thrombocytopenias, hypofibrinogenaemia, chronic liver disease, anti-coagulation therapy, other disorders affecting blood and circulatory system (e.g. hemodynamic instability, sepsis, acute and chronic Infections), chronic skin diseases or cancer, metabolic and systemic disorders, MUST consult their physicians before coming in for a consultation.
After the treatment, your skin will be slightly pink and feel slightly sunburned. For most people, your skin will completely recover in 24-72 hours. Your body’s collagen production usually takes about 4-8 weeks, so you will continue to see improvements over this time.
